Door Lock Transfer to New Door Handle

I've got a new door handle on the way to replace my broken one. It comes without the lock. I will need to transfer to lock from the existing [bad] handle to the new one. Is this easy? How to do?

thanks

It's easy. I think it's a matter of removing the phillips screw. I can't remember, but it took me about 5 mins. 6 years ago.

Second on ease of transfer. Just make sure to get a visual of how the locking assembly comes out of the old handle. One phillips screw holds it together.

Plug the key in before you pull it out. That will keep the wafers in place.

Second on the key. Not only does it keep the pins from falling out, without the key the pins stick out too far and it will be difficult to reinstall in the new lock.

Thx guys

The transfer of the locking mechanism was a piece of cake. Fortunately there was some grease in there and that held the wafers in.

The transfer of the electric device for the central/remote locking was not a piece of cake. It snaps on - that is, when the plastic isn't 20 yrs old. I broke one of the tabs when prying it off the old handle. I went to the PP store and could't find a replacement electric piece, so I looked elsewhere and couldn't come up with it. I now have a piece of duct tape wrapped all the way around the thing to hold it on

If it works, fine. But now it's a temporary bandaid, at best.

I had to modify the new handle to accept wiring guide for the central locking device as well as saw off about 1/4 in. of the pin actuator that opens the door. This was actually an easy mod. I'm installing it back in the car tomorrow. I hope it works.

thx
