First Engine Drop Obligatory Pics and ?s

Well first off I want to thank all Wayne (Oh Ha Ha) and Mike Pillay for helping me with this engine drop. I met these guys on this board and without them I don't think I would've tackled this project my self. They were there from the very beginning of this project and they are pumped up to help me put it back in. Thanks a lot you guys! Also, I gotta say that this board is a great community. You guys out there, too many to name, were very helpful also. Now to the pics! Right after it came out: Me and my son later in the day: How to get more lift out of your jack. This made me nervous at first but it worked great! Engine and Tranny removed: NOW FOR THE QUESTIONS: I have a new CHT sensor that I'm going to replace but how do I remove the old one? I can't get a wrench on it or a socket. Is there a special tool I need to remove it? Next, and yes I did a search and most used the one Thom has and connected a hose from the block off plate to this. But the one Pelican sells doesn't have that hose attachment part. I don't want the hose I just want it blocked off. So, can I just cap off that tube that comes up through the tin? What have you guys capped it with an how?

Your going to trash the old cht anyway so cut the wire and use a deep socket to remove then you can use a small openend to snug it up

Wait a minute, Bill!!! I never said anyting about puttin' it back in. You're on your own, son. Obviously, I'm joking. I had fun with you guys. I've already told Amanda that we will be putting it back together in a couple of weeks. I think our goal is to have it back on the road before Labor Day. The stack'o' wood worked but I was a bit leary as I was under the engine as we were lowering it. On the CHT----What a PIA!!!!! We tried every combination of wrench we had but I think Bill is going to slot a deep socket like for an O2 sensor.

Regarding capping off the hole in the engine tin, there are 2 easy options. 1. Use a lid from an aerosol can (preferably black), or 2. Cut an appropriately sized soup can (or vegetable, or whatever), peel the label and paint it. I know these sound like less-than-elegant options, but they work and cost $0.

Mike - Sure I can give you a ride in the 930. Actually, I'll give both you and Wayne a ride in it. Maybe I'll let you JP911 - Would that plastic from an aresol can melt? How did you secure the cap to it? A hose clamp? Yup, I'm planning on getting a cheap deep socket and slotting it. Even if I gut the old one and do what Buttjoint suggested I really don't think I could get an open wrench in there to snug it back up. So I'll stick with the deep socket.
