Oil press guage
I have an oil pressure guage that dances wildly at idle. Once moving on up in the R's, it pegs at 5 bar and stays. Once it comes lower than 5 though, it looks like hummingbird wings. Anybody have thoughts whether It would be the sending unit or the guage??

Sounds like a bad/dying sender unit, or a loose/corroded connection some where ... the gauge will peg if you disconnect the sender, or if it goes 'open' internally.

I have this same problem with my 1988 Carrera Targa...it jumps at idle from 2 - 4 but stays steady at high rpms. I know the oil level is ok so I live with it...

If you guys want to test the gauge and decide whether it is the sender or not check this earlier thread for a test produre:
