Brake warning light

'73 911T. I'm having a problem with my brake warning light flashing continuously. It flashes at about half the normal brightness when the e-brake is off and full brightness when the e-brake is on. I have tried disconnecting the e-brake switch which has no effect whatsoever. Another bizarre symptom is the fact the flashing is in unison with the turn signal flashers (when they are on). Any ideas???

I don't know if you have solved this problem yet, but it may have been caused by a defective master cylinder. The rear seals (nearest to the brake pedals typically wear out and leak down on the pedal bushing area ... rust causes 'hard' action and sticking pedals. I would suggest you check the brake fluid level in the reservoir, AND the pedal cluster for traces of fluid or evidence of rust in the area! There is a 'warning switch' on USA models only, that is tied to the brake warning lamp circuit, and the reason the flashing is in 'sync' with the turn signals is because it uses the turn signal flasher relay!

If you still have this problem, I suggest you remove, disassemble, and clean the master cylinder ASAP! In light usage around town, you may not notice a problem braking with one circuit not working, but on the highway in an emergency situation, it very well could cause you to hit something you don't want to!

Hey, I don't know if this simply answer will work or not. I recently got my 1st Porsche (74 911 coupe) and while driving a couple of weeks ago I noticed the brake warning light flashing. I freaked since I had just bought the car. It turns out that if the e-brake is in the 1st notch position it will continually flash. It felt like the brake was all the down but I had to push the button in and lower it that last notch...a lot cheaper than what I initially thought it might be...good luck.
