distributer wowes
I was so happy recently to find a used Bosch Distributer ('69 911L). Then I discovered that the condenser for that model is NLA leaving me SOL. So far, nobody seems to have any suggestions. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any suggestion. Daniel St. Louis |
There are a couple of solutions to your immediate problem, both viable, and workable: 1. It already has a condenser, or capacitor, right? Just continue to use it, they DON'T have to be changed every time you change the points! 2. Mount an external condenser, US mfr Mallory has a 'universal' Heavy-Duty model that will never have to be replaced, but any model from almost any mfr can be used ... try a Bosch for any of several VW models from the '60s and '70s ... just bolt it to the outside of the distributor, and use a 'piggy-back' 1/4" quick-disconnect connector to your coil lead, or a 'spare' position if the coil has an extra.
A third option would be to convert to the Bosch CDI-box for the '69-'77 models, or the Perma-Tune replacement for the same application! Just take the condenser off, because it isn't needed for CDI applications! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |
