Power Seat Problem

The power seat on my 911 works half. There are 2 pads to move the seat. One works and the other does not. I pulled the switch apart and now have 4 springs and ball bearings. Is the only way to replace this to resolder a new switch? Is it possible that the motor is the problem? Any ideas to how to trouble shoot this?

If you pulled the switch apart, most likely you will see the burn marks on the brass connections where they make contact on top and bottom of switch.

If you need more info, let me know. Could also be a bad motor... :-(

I cleaned my contacts with some sand-paper. They work great now!

If there's corrosion on the contacts, I would recommend cleaning them throroghly with contact cleaner (imagine that!) first, and then using a pencil eraser to abrade them shiny. Works great and doesn't eat the copper.
