Swappers! How to pass Cal smog?

Say you have SSI :D and you want to put the cat back to pass smog,
do you:

1. Disconnect and plug the distributor vacuum lines.
2. Using your Gunson, set the mixture to 2.0.
3. Remove the SSI.
4. Install the cat and old exhaust.
5. connect the O2 sensor.
6. Take it for the test.

Are these steps correct? I do not think #1 is required. As for step 2, would 1.8 or so be better.

Please assist. Thanks.
:D

You will want to set the mixture AFTER installing the stock exhaust.

Not sure what you are doing with teh dist. vacuum lines? I only disconnect them when setting the timing. Which brings up one more point. Check and set the timing to stock, as you will fail if it is off.

I would assume that instead of inserting the sniffer into the muffler, I would insert the sniffer where the O2 sensor is located? ........ a pre-catalytic test.

The stock exhaust has a small port with a cap bolted on it, for a sniffer ahead of the cat. If your sniffer does not fit, then remove and disconnect the o2 sensor sensor and use that opening.

Good Luck,

George
