Which 914 VDM wheel fits a 73T?

I am interested in acquiring a leather wrapped 380mm 914/911RS steering wheel that will fit my 73 911T? I hear of people finding the correct fitting wheels on Ebay. What part number should I be looking for? Are anymodifications necessary? Thanks for any info..... Or if someone has a wheel for sale I am in the market....

Any 914 wheel will fit.

If the wheel originated from a 914/6 it will fit straight on without any modification (& will almost certainly sell for significantly more than a 914/4 wheel).

If the wheel originally came from a 914/4 you will need to:

1) Remove the black plastic 'spacer' from the rear of the hub (4 screws)
2) Use the 911 turnsignal cancelling ring from your current wheel to mark the position of the 2 screw holes needed to secure it to the rear of the 914 wheel's hub
3) Drill/tap 2 (M4 from memory) holes in the positions marked above
4) Countersink these holes & fit the 911 turnsignal cancelling ring
5) Fit the 914 wheel to your car

I think that you will not have to make the changes Andy talks about if you get any 914 wheel made prior to '72. I needed to modify nothing to get mine to fit, and It seems really unlikely that it is from a 914-6 (not claimed by the seller, and no wrap, hard rubber rim). By the way, the dish is about a half inch less on the 380mm wheel. This puts the rim close to the dash. I made a 1/2" spacer to restore the stock relationship.
