Is this part of the window regulator or door latch?

I opened up the door to fix a loose speaker and found this laying in the bottom of the door.

The car is a 911 SC with power windows.

Any ideas what it is a part of?

The window seems to work just fine.

What should I buy before I tear the door apart? The regulator looks pretty pricey - are there repair parts available?

Thanks!

Porchdog,

If your window is working fine and stays up when closed, ignore the metal piece you found. That piece is part of the spring mechanism for the window regulator. I found that same piece in my SC when the window regulator broke. Bought the replacement part from PP a long time ago. This particular part comes in two (2) different versions (horizontal or vertical slot). Someone has replaced it already and inadvertently left that piece behind.

yes look at the inner part of the spring with a mirror and light as your winding it up and down. if its moving then the piece has already been replaced. its very hard to see with the regulator in place.

I pulled it apart after work tonight. No one had fixed it before me, the spring was still bearing against the arm at the end of travel.

The directions I found above made removing and replacing the regulator a piece of cake. Wires to the power window switches are a bit fiddly.

An easy fix and I can't remember the window working so quietly.

Thanks, Guys!
