Repairing MFI Steel Fuel Line

I just purchased a set of original steel MFI fuel pump/injector lines for my '69 911E and noticed that one of the lines has a few nicks. The nicks do not cut deep enough into the line to cause it to leak but I'm concerned that the line is weakened at the two knicks.

Is it possible to MIG, TIG, Braze, ARC or other method to fill the nicks? I plan to have all the lines re-plated following repair and don't want to use JB Weld.

Thanks,

Replace the line.

6800 RPM redline = 20,400 injector pulses/min or 57 pulses per second per cylinder at 220 PSI. A nick or other stress raiser isn't worth it, particularly due to the likelihood of a failure of the line spraying atomized fuel all over the engine compartment while you are driving and don't know it.

Could be a very bad day waiting to happen. The lines are cheap enough even if you buy a set.

Thanks John,

I've found it very difficult to locate the steel lines from the MFI pump to the injectors - especially those from 1969. Do you know where to find them?

Ron,

While I think the plastic stack versions may differ, is there any difference between the mag stack versions?

Try Henry at Supertec or Otto, they probably have them by the bushel.

John,

The 1969 ones are a bit different than the 70-on ones. They have a more circular bend where they connect to the injector vs. a square-ish bend. Not a big deal as swapping one out shouldn't interfere with the others since it's just at the injector. I'll take a look to verify the one line that's nicked and see if I can locate a replacement from Otto or Henry.

Thanks,

Hmm. Here is the bend on my '71. Is it like this? Or "rounder?"

Lines

John,

Here's a drawing of the 1969 fuel lines at the injectors (in the square red boxes). Notice the circular bends in the lines at the injectors on the left -- both my 1969 sets look like this but I don't have an actual photo:

Here's a drawing of the 1970 - on lines. Differences are subtle in the drawings but quite noticeable when comparing lines side by side:
