carrera sc w/out fog lights and 915 question

i searched and couldn't find anything...anyways does anyone have pictures of their carrera SC without fog lights on, because one of mine broke and everyone keeps telling me just to take them off and that they look ugly...is it possible to take those suckers off without it looking bad

also... my 915 trans is giving me headaches like the typical cant get into second gear from first without a horrid noise and hesitation/not being able to put it in first gear over 2 mph etc... so i searched and bought 1000dollars worth of shifter parts

they are:
swepco trans lube
ball joint
ball cup bushing
shift rod bushing set
shift coupler bushings
wevo precision shift joint
and finally
a wevo 915 shift kit

this all came out to 1040 dollars

am i insane or did i do the right thing and is my shifting going to improve alot etc...

thankkkkkks

Install or replace everything that you brought and see if it improves the shifting.

Just remember this ain't no corvette or ford mustang tran so if you are use to speed shifting STOP doing it.

No fogs on my SC.

With all of the parts you bought for the trans, it BETTER improve on the shfting.
Actually, those are excellent parts. If you still have problems after the install, you probably need a rebuild.

Like the guy above me said, these will not shift like a modern car. Close but not quite.

Ready to Do the Same

Think...

I'm preparing to purchase a similar list for my SC with the same 915 shift problem. Do a search on shifting etc. and you will find that the 1-2 shift problem is very common.

Unfortunately, I don't expect the "outside" repairs/upgrades to fix the problem. On mine, I'm fairly confident the problem resides with the second gear syncro (worn). However, I'm not prepared to drop the tranny at this time and the list of parts will ultimately improve the accuracy/feel of the 915. It's a list of parts I would purchase post 915 rebuild anyway...

Bottom line, you bought some nice stuff but it may not fix the problem you are after.

Interested to hear from you after your install.

Good luck, Gordo

unless you are driving alot at night on poor lit roads, just take them off.
I took mine off recently as part of my make it lighter transformation quest. I just have to get the holes welded shut to clean it up.
I added a front chin spoiler after the removal and it looks alot more purposful for what I want, and did I mention new yellows lens for the H-1's.

As for the shifting, my 78 SC has always felt notchy going into 2nd gear.
If your worried have a reputable shop check if it's anything that needs an operation. Other than that make 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear changes make up for the lost time easing it into 2nd gear.

If your car isn't lowered to much you can reach the nuts that hold the fog lights from below without lifting the car.

Here is another picture of fog lights that isn't there. I added a pair of intakes that feed air to the brakes.

The fogs are attached with one bolt...the wires run back up and penetrate the inside fender area thru a grommet. You may have to "tug" on the wires a bit to get them to slip "out" a bit thru the grommet... to allow clearance for bolt removal. The other end of the wire ( inside the trunk) runs to a dual-port clear connector. Preferred to detach there instead of cutting wires.

Steve,
You have one nice looking 911 there. It looks great with the all polished Fuchs.
