Central Lock Question
I took my center console out to replace shifter bushings. Also, I'm in the process of removing my AC stuff.
Anyways, I like the look of the interior without the console and since I don't need the AC switches anymore I'm going to leave it out. So my question is if I leave the Central Locking button unhooked are the power locks going to work normally? I could hook the battery up and try, but the engine and trans are out right now and I'd rather have everything hooked back up before I put power to everything. I don't want to fry something. |
It seems to me that the locks work with the remote, so the button on the console must be normally open. If so, you should be able to seal off the ends and tuck them under the dash.

That's how I left it today. Taped up and zip tied under the PS floor board. Thanks for confirming that it isn't a big deal leaving it unplugged.

Looking at the wiring diagram (I just so happened to be early this evening):
Wires: Yellow goes to ECU Blue goes to ECU Black/Blue goes to the Interior lights system Brown is the ground (yes I know that is obvious) Keep the wires the way they are and you should be set. Though I like to keep things in my center console. Since its my daily driver, I wouldn't take it out. Though my A/C is totally gone. Post some interior pics when you get a chance. That may convince me to do the same. -Matt |
Well I'm not COMPLETELY done yet. But here's an idea what it's going to look like. There is a hole in the carpet behind the console where the wires come through. I'm going to get some carpet to lay over this area and tuck under the OEM carpet. I think it'll look nice when I'm done.
Here's the pic: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1155443666.jpg EDIT: Don't ask me where the clutch pedal is cause I transformed my '85 into a Tiptronic.... J/K! The engine and Trans are pulled so my clutch pedal is sitting on the floor for now. |
