Cool Brake pads and rotor recommendations?

I have a '88 911 Carrera and was looking to get a new set of drilled rotors and pads. Are the Zimmerman rotors and Mintek pads any good?
Any other suggestions?

Thanks guys.

There are a lot of posts on this topic. You will find varying opinions on the drilled rotors. Most will say they will crack and you should avoid them. Some will say they crack, but be careful and watch them, and they will be fine. I have drilled rotors on the rear on my RS clone with Boxster calipers. So far, so good. You will also get recommendations for slotted rotors, and advice to stay OEM.

It really boils down to what your needs are. If you are not tracking the car, or doing hard DE's, the OEM vented rotors should be fine. If you experience cooling issues, then add some ducting.

As for the pads, you'll get a dozen different answers from a dozen different people. I like the Porterfield R4-S for all around driving and the R4 for the track. Pagids are probably too aggressive for your needs. Mintex should be a safe bet for all around driving.

Bill Verburg is our resident "expert" on brakes and has volumes of information out there. A search should provide fruitful results.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the quick response Brad!
The car is strickly a weekend cruiser and won't see any track time. I kinda just like the looks of the drilled rotors verses OEM but had no idea about durability.

The Zimms are fine, but do not get drilled unless you like cracking rotors. The OE replacements are just fine, but the ATE ones with the ellipical grooves I've found work great, and last long in under the rigors of track use, so they should be fine for pure street. The bonus is they are not much more than the Zimms. Oh, and for pads, had the Mintex w/o complaints. Hope this helps.
