It is 46 mm, or 1 7/8", if you happen to have a set of 3/4" drive sockets ... normally the type of wrench used is called a 'crowfoot'!

I removed and installed my heads for a top end rebuild not long ago my friend. You will need the 46mm crowsfoot for the cam nut and another socket to hold the cam still whilst breaking the torqued on nut. take sprocket off..remove the plate behind that..remove all your rocker arms...remove the cam...undo the chain piece halves..remove the housing that holds the ramps and tensioner for that side..remove the cam tower from the heads and voila....there you are

have fun....check your studs

if you dont have a crows foot or the cam holder you can easily take it off by simply using an impact wrench. i ordered the crows and the cam holder and i realized it was rather a waste of money considering you can take off the nut with a GOOD impact and when finished, you will need a torque wrench to install it. (PLEASE, NEVER USE THE IMPACT TO INSTALL THE NUT????)and i asure you that you will have money left over to buy yourself a soda when the work is done.

The reason why I ask is that the heads can be taken off as a bank, wich means allot less dissmantling and putting back together if THE REASON he wants to do this has nothing to do with the heads proper.
