oil lines
I have a 1971 911s that I will be installing a 28 row oil cooler. is there anyone out there that knows the size of fittings on the factory metal oil lines and the thread size on the cooler. The car has 1/2" I.D. and the cooler has 3/4" I.D.. any suggestions that will make this set up work without having to purchase another cooler? thank you

Louis,
It is not real clear what oil lines you are talking about, or what you want to do. As to the cooler, what brand and model are you talking about? Are you trying to convert a car without a front fender cooler to one with an aftermarket cooler? You will need a thermostat for the front cooler if that is your project. ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

the metal oil lines that I am talking about are the ones that came factory on my 1971 911. unfortunatly someone took off the auxilary cooler and placed a bypass hose. the cooler that I have is a factory 911 porsche cooler that I think came out of an 1980-?. They usually refer to this cooler as "28 tube cooler". its either of brass or copper not sure. I do know that porsche made two different sizes of oil lines that go from the front of the rear of the car to the right front fender. My objective is to place the this 28 tube cooler inside the fender but the fittings on the cooler are a different size than the fittings on the factory oil lines (metal). Can I modify to fit or should I replace the oil lines with the more modern ones that run along thee bottom outside of the car? (these are the ones that idiots crush when they jack their cars up). For sake of helping the situation I am running a 1965 911s engine that has 906 grind cams, ported and polished heads, 40ida3c,10:1 comp,B&B exhaust and updated oiling system (did away with center cam oiling system). The motor is fresh and hasnt been in the car yet. TRYING TO GET THE SMALL BUGS OUT FIRST. They say I might need a outside cooler but like everyone like myself and even worst, I have put too much money to take short cuts or chances. thanks for the reply
