Fabrication coming to an end? (+full car pics)

Hey everyone,

This week was pretty productive. Looks like the major fabrication is wrapping up. Should only take another 2-3 days. Afterward I'll be wiring up the racepack and putting in the M48 along with the new interior. Hoping to have her running by the end of the month.

Also took some full car exterior shots in case anyone was curious what a GT2 flared car looks like without a wing.

Here are the pics:

Intercooler end tank welded inside and out.

Passenger side intercooler.

Full turbo system.

Nearly complete engine bay. (missing one BOV and pass. intecooler piping)

That beast is unreal!

I really like the lack of a tail. Very trick having the intercoolers with no tail.

Looks clean, lean and mean without it!

Very nice, princeton. How do you feed your right plenum? can you not go right up through the fender from the intercooler because of the oil tank on that side?

Thanks in advance, looking great.

I am just guessing here, but I would bet that the oil tank is not over there any longer...;-)

Smuggler's box, perhaps??

Guys I'm pretty sure the oil tank on the 993's was relocated near where the '72 tank was meaning it wouldn't be in his way anyway. Sweet fab work BTW.

Bill - Yeah its completely different now. Hows your car doing? think the last time I saw it was at Mike Callas' place in Sealy? Or maybe it was just one that looked exactly the same.

Andy - The right plenum will be fed up through the fender in the same fashion as the left side. Just haven't gotten around to fabricating that tube yet. The oil tank on th e 993 is in front of the right rear wheel so its not a problem. The only thing I have to relocate is the fuel filter which isn't much hassle since I'm changing parts of the fuel system already.

Thanks, princeton. I guess the tube I'm looking at is a balance tube between the two plenums, then. Awesome work, you have done amazing things with this car!

I was picturing that you were going to do a CTR style intercooler layout on this car, but maybe the 959/996 style layout is better. you won't have the intake "port" on the front of the fender, though, right?

Princeton,
Car's fine, waiting for Spring around here - lately it has been raining waaaay too much.

Are you planning on continuing to drive that bad boy on the street at all? It sure looks interesting - hope I get a chance to see it close up and personal..

Class act, all the way.

I saw your car up at Protecnik. It's looking good. What's left to do on it?

I picked up my Motec M600 and unterminated harness from Sam. I've just got to make a new MAP sensor bracket, change the cam sensor pickup and magnet, and build the harness. Doesn't seem like much, but at my speed it'll be another month or two.

NICE, but bigger pics!!

You might also want to link to the last thread for people who didn't see it.

JO put together an overall summary on his car with the 7-8 links in it and what each described...

Hey everyone,
Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been extremely busy with work and neglecting the project for months.

So,.... before the beginning of summer the starter went bad while trying to tune her. Initially I was waiting around for a prototype lightweight starter, but that never came to be.

I got a new bosch starter in approximately a month ago. Now the car is at Protechnik to sort out some wiring problems with the harness, which Irecieved directly from Motec and paid a mint for (annoying).

In any case, those problems are now taken care of and we are just syncronizing the throttles before the final tuning will take place.

She will be roaming the streets soon
