SC slight tilt to right side
noticed my SC is slightly lower on right side when looking at it from the rear -- in looking at many SCs and some Carreras, i see alot of cars with a slight tilt to the right when looking at them from behind.
Is this by design or do all these cars have worn bars or misadjustments? thought i saw something once about this being this a way to compensate for driver weight but with bilsteins, would things really move that much? |

The car should be mostly level.
However, what's most important is proper corner balance, meaning that the ride heights are adjusted on each corner such that the weight distribution is proper. This means that if you were to put your car on a scale that could independently weigh each corner of the car, you'd see roughly 40% of the weight up front and 60% of the weight in the rear and each of the fronts carrying about equal weight and each of the rears carrying about equal weight. If your car has that it considered to be corner balanced and should handle as it was designed. An example (my car): LF = 501 RF = 504 LR = 814 RR = 814 Sometimes one corner of the corner of the car might end up slightly higher than the other in order to achieve this - but not by much. It's had a little weight taken off. No AC, RS lightweight door panels, manual seats, manual top (standard for that year), no engine sound pad, no tool kit or jack (I do have the spare), etc.
It is kind of light for a Cab. That weight was with a half tank of gas. |

After 20+ years, most 911s will have settled enough to require re-balancing. Almost none of them get it, as it takes a lot of time (+money) to do it right, requires tools most people don't own, and the average new 911 owner doesn't know about the procedure to ask about it. For some reason, many shops no longer tell people it's needed. Lot's of them won't do the work.
It may be coincidence, but most of the cars I see sag more on the right. The last two of mine that got done (930's) had beginning weights of: 636 561 927 950 528 519 927 853 The heights were off (side to side) anywhere from 1/8 to 5/8 inches. JR |

Mine seems to lean to the right in back under certain light conditions. Sometimes I think it's just reflection or uneven ground.

Maybe it's due to the asymmetry of the prototype "mold car", as per Wil Ferch's argument for the fender heights which I agree.

I found this thread after doing a search on "sag". My 911 also appears to sag on the right rear.
Is it possible (just possible) that the engine rotation would force right rear down more than the left?
