What size speakers fit '87 Carrera doors?
I can't find a clear yes or no on which size is correct for front door speakers. Every web site says 5 1/4" is the right size but the opening is about 5 1/2". That doesn't make sense, a 5 1/4" would not work because the mounting screws would have to be angled out-wards to reach sheet metal. Wouldn't 6" or 6 1/2" be more appropriate? I'm really confused about this.

i can tell you 6.5 inch fit in a 91 door. i think yours is the same but not sure

6.5 inch definatly fits for a carrera

I have 6.5 in my '87 doors. Done by the PO so I don't know what was required or done to make them fit. But they are there.

If you install 6.5 speakers in the doors you need to cut the door panels. You can install 5.25 speakers without cutting the door panels.
