Fix/Repair before Selling
I'm contemplating selling my 911 in the near future, question is fix the know major issues or price to sell accordingly? Issues include drivers seat needs re-upholster, oil return tubes leak, minor body damage to hood and driver's door.

I'd let the buyer fix them. One way or the other it will cost you, so why go to a lot of trouble. Plus, if a prospective buyer understands you fixed those, maybe he/she will wonder what things you fixed, maybe more major, that you didn't say anything about.

Depends on what you're asking. If you want X for the car then ask yourself WOULD you buy the car at that price. If no, then why, and fix what's needed.
See what it cost to fix the body damage and the oil return tubes and see if you can get the price to cover that. Plus, throw some decent seat covers on but disclose the tear. Personaly, body damage lowers the price the most given the car runs well, then small engine issues but that's me.

I made two new doors for my SC while I was selling it. I learned how to make doors with a stapler and some inner door vinyl from Pelican. Did it help sell the car? He11 NO! I spent money on it for nothing but knowledge...Dayum!
It sold for 9,000. The same price I would have gotten if I didn't make the doors. But I just couldn't stop thinking about how worn out they were behind the old vinyl! ![]()

General rule of thumb is to sell as is...fix it if you're going to keep it.
That is not to say you shouldn't make it as presentable as possible if you are going to sell it. |
