It's Official, Pelicans on the Dragon Nov. 3-5, 2006

Having received the nod from Wayne, an Official Pelican rally/meet is currently being organized for Nov. 3-5 at Hwy 129 (The Dragons Tail).

In addition to the Dragon, the area offers many scenic drives including the Cherohala Skyway & the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Additional info regarding activities, lodging, etc. will be posted ASAP.

Mods, please make this sticky.

More info is posted here:

Count me in! Great way to meet fellow Pelicanheads and thrash the roads. Nothing is more rewarding than chasing down a motorcycle. Straight roads and a Porsche are like a fish outta water.
So who's renting the block of cabins?

Made the trip down 3 weeks ago from Pittsburgh, hit it on a Thursday and had very little traffic-ran it 5 times. A WV guy turned me on to a road an hour or so below Beckley WV on the way down that was every bit as fun if you are traveling from the north. The corners were a little faster but not too fast in my opinion.I do not know how much the cops watch it though.I can look up the route if anyone needs it-think it was 16.

If your talking about cops on the Dragon, yes they bought some motorcylces and stepped up patrols. Due to too many accidents and a couple of fatalities.

Everyone should drive the dragon a few times and just remember, stay on your side of the road, drive within your limits, and do not speed on the straights.

Procon is a local there. He knows quite a few non-dragon roads that are a lot of fun too. Thats why we are thining of a side trip, so we can go out and enjoy some other less popular, but just as fun, roads.

Have a great time guys. I'd love to join you, but its the wrong side of the country for me.
There is a good amount of lodging in the area and it should be mostly open since the sport bike season is basically be over by then.
My older brother rides a Mabusa (I think that's how its spelled), he hits the Dragon every other year or so. He says its an incredible drive but watch out for the retards that try pushing the road without knowing it.
I hope no adds anything to that tree of shame... Porsche parts do not belong with bike parts.

See you guys there.

Hopefully we'll have the chance to personally meet each other and actually see all those P-cars we all "write" about.

Pelican will issue some kind of ID for the Pelicanheads, right?

Great deal!!!!!!!!!

No, Procon is, I am trying to help him out, but, honestly he is covering it well. He is about an hour from the Dragon so he is able to handle things on a local level.

Thats not a bad idea. I organized an RX-7 event and we all wore "pit passes" with the event name on it and our name sharpied in.

I'll look into getting a bunch made up.

If anyone is handy with artwork we need something that is about 3" wide by 5" tall that we can punch a hole in and wear like a pit pass.

I should be able to find lanyards cheap online, possible with Pelican Parts on them or Porsche on them. Since I am not selling them there should not be any licensing issues.

Any leftovers will be sent to Wayne as a gift. Seriously.
