I have read allot of the posts here on the boxter brake conversion but I still have a question
I put a "kit" on my 75 Carrera. I had used front A calipers with Hawk HPS pads and stock rear calipers. This configuration stopped the car very well...better than the front S calipers the car came with. To make a long story short, I went with a kit from a notorious retailer and they squeak like there is no tomorrow...My kit came with black colored Pagid brake pads, could these be STOCK boxter pads? the rear are the 84-89 Carrera rotors and calipers. The loud howl squeak only occurs at the very end of braking, I talking about the last 3 feet of the stop. Babies are not safe in the neighborhood, I wake them up, frowns aplenty Help, |

Black pagids are a high heat track pad. Under normal driving, these would squeal. Go with something meant for street driving and change them out when on the track.

Welcome to having boxster brakes on a 911. They are terribly noisey. Give TRE a call, I think they said they had the trick to making them quiet, but I am not sure what it is. I tried 4 different pads on the set up I had (for a very short time) and then gave up and sold the parts off.
Cheers

Hi:
The Boxster brake kits sold by Brembo use either Pagid Sport Blacks (RS 4-2-1) or Brembo's own street pad. Both can be noisy if not installed correctly. Pagid's Black pads; RS-14's, are totally different and are not appropriate for street use. For strictly street use, we use the Porsche OEM Boxster front pads with either OEM Carrera Textar's or Mintex street pads on the back. The fronts should be chamfered at the leading edge of the pads and the backing plates given a liberal coat of copper-based anti-seize.

We've tried the textar, porsche oe, pagid various varieties. The best pad we found with the minimum of squeal- usually none- is the porterfield R4S compound. I tested these for over a year on street and track.
I now run the R4 full race compound on street and track, as i use the car mostly for aggressive driving. Now those will develop a squeal from time to time. But the R4S is a great compound for street and autocross- they warm up quickly and work
