Brake pads

Hi:
I am new to the forum and would like to hear some opinions on what brake pads you would use on a 1987 911 Carrera 3.2, primarily for street use but hard enough for the occasional track day.
Thanks,
Veloce

posts by 3 experts, collated from various threads

normal street type pad that works well when cool to luke warm.
Good choices:
* Axxix/ PBR metal master
* Pagid Blue
* Ferodo 2500
* textar yellow box
* PFC carbon metalic
* Jurid
* Hawk HPS

- Bill V.

Steve Weiner likes either Mintex "red box" or Ferodo 3410 pads for
street use

Pete Zimmerman likes Jurid or Textar

- Then there are Pagid Orange - more track oriented, also fine on street if you don't mind a lack of some intial bite. They were on my car when I got it, and I never bothered to switch.

I’ve run the Ferodo, HP+ , PF97s, Carbotechs, and more.
Based on your description I vote for the HP+.
  • Work well on the street.
  • Not too dusty.
  • Not noisy.
  • Not very expensive
A caviate applies if you do a lot of track days. If you know your way around a track really well they'll only last a weekend. (But then again, they're way cheaper than true race pads.)

I like Mintex for the street they are quiet,low dust and rotor friendly. I just put on some Ferodos for a upcoming DE and so far with limited miles they are working well.

I did a bunch of research and purchased Porterfield R4-S and used the bedding information on the Stop-Tech website, I also used the Stop-Tech SS lines.

This afternoon I installed the same pads on my Mercedes.
