SC and turbo A/C compressor : compatible ?
Hello,
I am about to buy a york 'sc' compressor for my 911 Turbo (1979). The original compressor : http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/8611/yorkyr0.th.jpg The SC compressor : http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/5...rksczx6.th.gif see also this picture http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/6...hotovk1.th.jpg The mounting set : http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/892...tingei2.th.gif The 2 compressor plates (part #16 on the last schema) seem to be the same but the references are different. Do you know if the turbo's compressor plate can accept a 'sc' compressor ? Thanks, Gengis. |
The York compressors are notoriously bad. Will a Nippondenso fit that engine with an adapter plate?

I brought a Seiki Seiko compressor with bracket from a 930 owner on this forum. The bracket is similar to the York bracket but with the adapter plates for a rotary compressor.

Thanks for your post, I already have the completing mounting set for the nippodenso (and I also have a brand new nippodenso) but the fixation on the exhaust support is not the same :( IMHO, making holes in the exhaust support just for A/C purpose is not a good solution.
I do not expect miracle from the york compressor but would be happy to have 25°C in the car when it is 35° outside. But I still do not know if the york 'sc' compressor is compatible with the 930 mounting plate. |
Just looking at the bracket that I got for my seiki seiko compressor that came out of a 930 I would say that the brackets are similar. The only difference is that there is no belt tensioning adjustement screw.

Ok, Thanks 'ruf-porsche'. I made a layout from my compressor plate, scanned it and sent it to the seller and asked him to print it and compare with the compressor so he can see if the holes on the plate come in face of the screw holes of the compressor.
I keep you informed ;) |
Hello guys,
I managed to fix the nippondenso compressor on the original mounting set (initially designed for the york). I only had to remove the York compressor plate and replace it by the nippondenso compressor plate. The later can easily be fix on the original bracket (see item #13 in the last schema of my first post). |
