What does "SC" stand for?

This might seem trivial, but I want to know. What does "SC" stand for in reference to the 911SC?
I have always assumed that it meant "super Carrera", but it occured to me today that I don't know where I heard that from and I was wondering if I am right of wrong.

S.C. stands for "Sud Choisir" which in it's English translation becomes Southern Choice. This is a name pinned on the Porsches in Monaco for their inherent propensity to come out of a tight turn with the tail end following the front end if the driver let off the accellerator prematurely.Of course in Monaco there are a plethora of very tight turns which are very spectator accessible.
When things go awry in France it is quite often referred to as going south.
The deluge of precipitation during the 1959 running of the Monaco Grande lent itself to many "southern exposures" and the name seemed to stick,... if you will. Although the Porsce Officianado would have you think Supre Carrera is a more descriptive moniker, I'm afraid the French have the mot premiere.

now the hard part. What does Carrera mean?

That's the easy part, its from the Carrera Panamerica race. I think Carrera also means "race" in Spanish.

Of course, confusion could not be helped by references back to '64-'65 356C models, with the 'C' meant a 'Normal' 75 hp DIN engine with dual Zenith 32NDIX carbs, and 'SC' meant Super 'C' with dual Solex 40PII carbs and 95 hp DIN, an 'enhanced' version of the earlier 'Super 90' engine of 1960! There was no confusion, of course which was the top-of-the-line 'C' model, that being the 'Carrera 2' ... the 356C model with the roadgoing version of the 2.0 litre 904 engine with a muffler-model 180 hp DIN, down from the unsilenced 198 hp 904!!!
