Suspect Dead Alternator ??
I was out last night cruising and the red alternator/generator light came on, it started losing juice fast. I did make it home and checked voltage at the battery, shows only 12 volts after I recharged it, red light still coming on.. My question would be:
- Are there any connections I should check before puling the alternator? - Could it be the regulator? It is a 75 with I think has a seperate regulator so that would be an easy fix.. - Anyone ever rebuild their alternator, or should I just shop the Pelican site here for a used one? Anyway thanks in advance for any tips.

Get a voltmeter and check the voltage with the car running. It should be 13 volts or more. Of it not you can check the regulator, but more likely the brushes on the alternator is shot. You will need to get the alternator rebuilt.

If you only have 12 volts at the battery after charging it (with, I assume, a real battery charger), your battery is done (12.75 volts is a fully charged battery, 12.5 is half dead, 12 is all dead) - get a new one. You should also check your alternator using ruf-porsch's advice.
