Positive Battery post

Anyone know where to find a battery post extension for the positive side of the battery for an '86 911? I always fight with getting the damn thing tight because I can get a wrench in the recessed area around the post. The positive lead going to the car is cut to length and is stiffer than some of the drinks I had in college and cannot be moved.

Any ideas?

I find it easier to first move the battery away from the wall as much as I can in order to have enough space for the wrench. This way I can connect then tighten the positive side. Then I secure the battery on its base with the hold-down fixture, and only then, I connect the ground lead to negative pole.

I do the opposite whenever I need to disconnect the positive side and/or remove/replace the battery.

Get a reversed style battery. I think those are marked R, like Group 34R. That puts the pos post near the fuel tank, but on the same side as it is currently - closer to the firewall than the front of the car.

When I replaced my SC battery just last week - I had the same issue as you - which is "normal".

I took an inexpensive (cheap!) spare open end wrench and ground down the beefy edges on both sides. I also cut off the other end of the wrench to make it shorter. This modification gives a LOT more room to insert the wrench, get a good turn on the nut, extract the wrench and repeat. Edited to add the pictures.
