Ok here we go again OPS please

My back up car in case the Turbo Look car didnt work out which it didn't. Again I had a rennlister go out and check out the car for me. He drives a 928.

Car is an 1980 SC targa converted to cab look. 42,000 orignal miles...recent work on trans with new gears etc,

Would put new pics but i cant figure how to get them from a ftp site

heres the most recent pics

Report on the car

Me and my Neighbor when to look at your car tonight. My overall impression is you did good. Now the details.

10=best 1=worst

top=10
seats=10
dash=9
trans=10
engine=8 ( I think it could use a valve adj runs great though)
body=9
paint=high 7
glass=10
oops I forgot to chk function of power windows-sorry
pulled rugs back-no rust or signs of damage
all the hood struts work
Over all interior is a 9- drivers side arm rest is worn
underside of car is spotless
A/C=0 no work. pump off car, new one with car but not installed
radio=??? to busy listening to the sweet sound of that opposed 6

I drove the car, it goes like hell. it goes straight. good shift gates ( odd for that year usually very sloppy) clutch is great. tires are new but are an off brand wheels are a 9 at least.

the reason I give the paint a 7 is that is not show quality, it was painted to be a daily driver. dont get me wrong it is very nice, I saw no over spray on any rubber. it has a few nicks from being driven.

So Bottom line its a nice car. I took some pix but they may be too big to send. Oh yeah in a year or two you are oging to want to replace the front top seal. He said it doesnt leak but its getting to the point where on a car like that and its such a cheap part, just replace it.

If I was in the mkt for a 911, I would buy that one at 11-12K

Asking price $11600

I dig the yellow

guess he's got a thing for color coordination. e.g. the yellow striping on the dash?!
Never seen a crest on a cab top before either.
Not a fan of conversions but to each his own. Those seats look a little too poofy if you know what I mean (too much pleather?). Well, you asked..

FenderGuy, Car looks good. A few things are to owners taste but it hasn't been overdone. For 11k, if the PPI checks out, you would be hard pressed to find another one that looks as nice. Make sure the top conversion was done correctly and the boot and misc. pieces are there

Second set of photos are of last nights report from the rennlist member Kyle , have to thank him for checking the car out for me and taking photos

Plus side Carrera Fed Tensioners, brand new AC compressor in the front trunk, its yellow in the engibe bay

I like the car of course would change some things like the fog lights inthe front ...and maybe down the road the interior lol ...

the rennlister said something that i dont understand maybe you SC owners can chime in, I asked why he thought the car needed a valve adjustment

" I have heard 911's run a little smoother. But this one runs fine, just not perfect.. it Pops a little bit at idle, thats all"

???????

Nice car at a reasonable price. I'm just not sure I could live with that yellow piping on the dash. Maybe on the seats, but the dash is too much for me.

Can you verify the mileage? I would think with mileage that low, things like worn arm rests, a respray, etc would not exist (maybe a respray, dash, etc if it sat out in the sun a lot). I would just think with that low of mileage, someone would have absolutely baby'd the car.

Also, what's the red light looking thing on the front of the dash between the guages and the center vents?

"pops at idle" -may be nothing, may be something...

-when set up correctly they should not pop at all! Now, if I drive my car hard for an hr or 2 in the summer sure, when i drive into the garage and listen to it idle you can hear the oil poping a bit but not backfiring..

meant to add- PPI is a must esp for a targa conversion, just to make sure it was done the way the factory laid out instructions

I agree, something just not 'right' about it. Personally, I would shy away from any 911 Targa to Cab conversion. The reasons are mostly emotional but it seems that there is so much that needs to be done 'right' when doing this...

I also get that 'itchy' feeling seeing the goofy fogs, crest on the top, extra speaker sitting in the back seat, three miles of yellow piping, and yet the drivers arm rest is warped badly??? Probably just me. I'd get a top-notch PPI on this one.

Also curious that your considering this one at 11k yet also looking at an '87 Cab for 22k. If your have that much cash in your budget, I'd surely skip the conversion and get an original cab.

All the above IMHO. I hope that which ever way you go is rewarding and makes you happy... That's what it's all about.

Eric

Eric

I'll flip the car if its crap...j/k

Its not emotional here, just dont mind a cab conversion...others have them on the board. The trival things like fogs, piping can be fixed, which i would do anyways...besides thoughts of a turbo look are in my mind...

still seeing that 87 tomorrow just to get a fill for the G-50....

At least the engine is updated with the tensioners
