Question where do you buy car numbers? Porsche DE

Well next month I do my first DE and there is a requirement for my car to have numbers on the exterior. They have to be minimum of 6 inch on the doors and 4 inch on the rear. I'm thinking magnetic but where do you buy these? The # 12 is what I'm going to use. I didn't see any from our host.

You might try calling Pelican to see if they can get them even if they aren't on the site.

Also,looks like Rennline has them:

Additionally, try

I think it's a Pelicanite who does No Bad Days Graphics :-)

Probably depends on your region, but UCR allows you to print them on your home printer and tape it inside the rear windows, so long as they meet the height requirements and it's black ink on white paper. They also allow electrical tape on your doors (won't hurt the paint) unless of course your car is black

If you definitely need/want magnetic, look in the yellow pages for sign makers. They'll do them up for you. IIRC mine were about $30 for a pair. But you'll need to tape them to your car - these are meant for pizza delivery guys, not a Porsche whipping around the track at 100 miles an hour!

Even some well-equipped print/copy shops can do them.

In the automotive section at walmart they sell window chalk you can use for this. They also have a clear spray for the front end to help minimize rock chips. Painters tape works well for that also. If you really need vinyl, check your local vinyl sign shops and they can make them for you in whatever size, font, and color you could want.

Try Office Depot for the giant magnetic door sign set. Print your own numbers on sticky paper and stick them to the magnetic sheet. I cut the magnetic sheets into ovals, and printed black numbers.

or get the sheet stuff like rick mentions and go to a motorcycle shop, they have big stick on #'s pretty cheap. do a search for internet magnetic sheeting, cheapest way to go. the sign companies will jab you for the sheeting

Buy a roll of low or medium stick shelf paper. Use your PC to print numbers as templates. All you need then is a razor and a kitchen cutting board.

It works out to something like 50 numbers for four dollars.

Solotime does nice work.

Also EuroPDR

Be careful with magnetic. I have ovals with 8 inch numbers and they ruined my paint in the summer heat. The magnetic sheet gets so hot in the summer sun, it appears to have baked the clear coat on my doors.

I was able to smooth it out a bit with some compound, but the damage is still visible from an angle.

Static cling and reuseable low tack stick on vinyl are alternatives to magnetic.

Call the guy that organizes the DEs for your local chapter. Odds are, he has a supply ready to go. I got my magnetic numbers from our DE organizer that way. He had them waiting for me at my first DE. Fifty bucks.
