Aux. Oil Cooler
Six weeks ago I was involved in a car accident and posted the thread Unthinkable!
It turns out the aux. oil cooler under the front fender is damaged beyond repair and will require replacement. I'm just wondering what the best course of action to take is in re-filling the new oil cooler to avoid any engine damage. 1.) Give the body shop 1 liter of oil and have them prime the new aux. oil cooler.(could be messy) 2.) Drive the car until the thermostat opens and then check/add oil as needed. They will be starting repairs early next week, any input would be much appreciated. T-RONE 87 CARRERA COUPE |

There is no need to 'prime' the front cooler, since it only gets scavenged oil from the sump ... on its' way back to the tank. It has no function in the main pressure pump circuit.
