When the lever is down, hot air escapes out under the car.
When the lever is up, it directs the hot air up to the interior. |

It makes the air in the interior hotter.
It works kind of like a heater.

If you can stand to lose the heat, you can lose a good bit of weight by going to headers or tearing the heat exchangers off your exhausts, backdating the blowers off the fan, and losing most of the air blower and mixer set up in the front.

I mean i live in the whitsundays, a heater is not required up here. It only gets cold for 2 weeks of the year.

Cool.
I was just commenting on one possibility. Many people here are interested in lightening up their cars to improve performance. You might not want to lose the heater because you will lose defog capability if it is humid there at all.

Cool. Have fun with it. Too bad it has CIS. It is just an electromechanical system, but it isn't necesarily the most foolproof.

Beg to differ but a well running CIS is a very nice street car setup. while some performance is left on the table, it's drivability is excellent. Also, once you understand how it works (he has the early version -before an O2 sensor), it is incedibilly simple. The air flow into the engine causes a plate to move which in turn adjusts a valve to meter the correct amount of fuel into the cylinder when the valve for that cylinder opens. As long as the fuel pressure is properly controlled (that is why we have warmup regulaotrs etc), the system takes care of itself.

Not bashing it at all. As time goes on the parts are certainly either impossible to find or very expensive. Problems can be diagnosed, but the tools aren't cheap and it is not as easy as other systems.
