noises
I hear a kind of squealing sound from my '76 930 intermittently. There is also something that sounds like a thud then a little screeching when I brake or turn ever so hard. It's really got me worried. I looked and found that the rear sway bar wasn't connected on the right side. Could this be causing it? Is it safe to drive it to the mechanic to get the sway bar fixed? This also sounds similar to the question about a bad CV joint in another post. Could that be related?

Doubtful that it is the cv joint.
Take it to your mech and get the bar hooked up again (the noises should go away). At this time replace the bushings (urethane might be a good option for you-your call) Degree of difficulty:2-3 Beers Your current "danger" factor driving to your repair shop: 1 Shirley Temple Get it fixed now and your cornering WILL improve. Also, have him check your brakes, (might be your squealing) while it is up on the lift for the bar. Good luck [This message has been edited by H2O911 (edited 04-17-2000).] |

Thanks, I took it in and it turned out that it was a wheel bearing, but I am going to get the sway bar fixed at the same time.
