Cool car.
Likely one of the most desirable of all Porsches for some people?
I never knew that last 3 came with the 2.7MFI RS motor instead of the 2.4MFI S motor.
If I owned it, I'd drive it every day and destroy it probably!

seen that car at concorso some years ago and it was really stunning with its orange colored leather interior. very original looking and very unique

I knew the guy a little bit that did own the car but I'm not sure if he still owns it. I have a bunch of pictures of it from the pits in Laguna Seca in 1998 at the 50th anniversary get together. I actually didn't know much about the 916 until he started telling me about it.

The guy that wrote that ad sounds like a real PRICK!

As usual for collectible cars on eBay, the pics are quite bad ... certainly not good enough to actually decide to bid $200K to $400K on it!

It was out of my league, but i was trying to talk my dad into getting it, that was when the bidding was at 80k and i thought the reserve couldnt be far off. 100k later and still no reserve met, now theres no chance of getting to drive that bad boy. hell of a lot cheaper to get a 914 and put the 2.7 in it, but if you are going to do that mine as well got to the 3.0 atleast. but i realize the price isnt in the performance, its in the history.

I dont think you guys realize how rare this car is as it never went into production and there are only a few of these that Porsche doesn't own.
At the time it was the best handling and probably the fastest car Porsche had considered building.
