are all 77 2.7's equipped with dilavar studs?
i have a 77 2.7 with 139k miles....how much longer will this thing go is of course a matter of the engine mods...it is the original with 11 blade, carrera tensioners, 49 state exhause (no heat chambers or whatever you call them)...it has all the paperwork from the previous owner....
i have heard some people say that all 2.7;s in 1977 had bottom dilavar and some say that only 1977 1/2 models and later had it...what is the truth here? thanks |

I beleive that 771/2 is correct. I'll check the 911 hand book tonight.

I just looked in the 911 handbook, all they say is "late" 77 911's got the bottom row of dilavar.

Many of the 2.7 engines, '74 to '77, were retrofitted with Dilivar studs by dealers at the first sign of trouble, PCNA probably has records, but whether you could do a search or get an answer on your car is another matter.

Except these days, Dilivar studs are no longer the hot tip, because of corrosion problems! Even the factory stopped using them.
