Sorry...next time she walks.
Took my G/F along tonight on my "shakedown cruise". She had two comments:
1) This is a Porsche, right? Aren't these supposed to be fast? -and- 2) Is this car made in Germany or France? ![]() FSOT: Slightly used G/F...baggage included |

Take her out to a tight twisty road and make her sick. She'll understand what a 911 is all about after that.
![]() ![]() You live in San Diego, right? Take her up to Mt. Palomar. Awesome 2nd and 3d gear road with tight 90 to 180 degree corners. |

Danny, dont give up hope ..... had the same kind of reaction with my fiance, when I first got my SC .... she can be converted, now she loves 911s as much as me, and drives it like it is meant to be. we fight to drive it now and she is thinking of getting one for herself. Hopefully gonna let her have mine and get a 930 for myself .......

True that some women can evolve a taste for our vintage Porsche cars. Most canīt IMO. Why ?
To reach the "AIR COOLED STATE OF MIND" (hey, sounds like a song), several factors are involved. An interest in wrenching, taking things apart and re assemble. Living the boy hood dream from the posters and magazines. Old school racing from Le Mans to Hockenheim. The Porsche history with the good professor and his unique solutions - rear mounted engine, boxer configuration, the good old 915 box etc. The racing heritage. Reaching the "AIR COOLED STATE OF MIND" means appreciating all this and transform it into a car. A car that will not go into first gear unless at complete standstill, has a heavy rather long clutch, primitive feel of the gear change, smell of oil and gas, loud and noisy. "ACSOM" means a true passion for all the above. Most women does not have all those factors needed for 'ACSOM'. In my experience, many women like a car that can go fast - as long as it is easy to drive and comfortable.

The solution is obvious, just nail the throttle and wait for the boost to hit. When it does she will understand. Of course this obny works if you actually have boost
![]() Seriously, to appreciate these cars you need to show her how it can be tossed around. The street is not the right place for that. See if you can hook up with the local Porsche club and take the car to an AX or DE. That will make her fall in love with the car. |

Her comments are akin to me saying the wrong thing when she asks "Do these pants make me look fat?*" *Note: Wrong answer = "No dear, it's your fat that makes you look fat"... |

i,ve heard the phrase "you love that car more than me "
more than once in my life. you need to find someone who loves cars as much as you or can accept them otherwise the car gets gets in the way of the relationship or she gets in the way of the relationship. single and happy! |

My wife grew up in a household with a father who used to rally old Brit. cars. Her fisrt husband raced motorcycles. He was sponsered by Honda. The biggest problem I have is keeping her happy with her Mercedes. It is just too "cushy" when the urge hits her to "grab and have at" She has been known to take one of my cars out for a drive just to "get it out of her system" This usuallly means thrashing the snot out of my BMW. She is afraid to scratch my 911. The moral of the story is she loves and understand the car, not just what it is but what is made for. She is good looking, and a damn good driver to boot! Danny if the GF doesn't get it, get a new GF and keep the car!
