motor mounts
My motor and trans mounts need changing but I was wondering if anyone knows of any mounts that are a little stiffer than original, other than the solid aluminum ones. The car is sometimes taken to the track and launching it always makes uncomfortable wheel hop.
Thanks, Mike |

Depending on your year, they came out with some special "clubsport" mounts for certain years. I don't have the specific details on the composition, but I don't think they were solid. Unless your car is going to be specifically track driven, it would be a good idea to avoid solid mounts. It has a negative effect on the transmission linkage along with plenty of noise and vibration.

They have the sport trans mounts (club sports are not solid) here at Pel. and they are cheaper than the original equip. mounts.
Anyone please correct me if I am wrong but didn't they use the same rubber mounts for the 915 trans & eng on the 911? (you might want to check that one for sure when you order) but if so, you can get them all right here. I know that you don't want solid but I will pass this on... the only exp. that I have with solid mounts is negative (VW Baja Bug and what a tin can it was...hardly a track car but at 16 what the h..l did I know?) They were too noisey and not worth the vibration that they caused. Mounts only have to be stong enough not to break. The club sports mounts should do it. good luck |

Yes, all four mounts for engine and front 'saddle' for the 915 trnas are the same part. Club sport mounts should work fine, though people have told me they can't tell the difference between originals and 'club sport' mouts. And, solid aluminum mounts would be a real noise source on a street car!
