mechanical speedo part
hi guys,
i opened up the speedometer, and i found the culprit for the non working mile-counter (what's that word again in english? ![]() So, the speedo works, but it doesn't count miles. this is the part that was jammed completely. I got it rotating freely again, but it's missing a few teeth, and i don't know if it will work (probably not). Can i change this part, (can i get it out of the metal body?) and if so, where can i find such a part? cheers and thanks! jan ![]()

The word is "odometer".
I can't really tell by looking at the picture what you're talking about, but if it's the little plastic gear, you can buy them here: www.odometergears.com Good luck! Scott

hi scott,
no it's not the plastic gear. There's a long gear (in the red circle) in the metal body in the picture, which connects to the main axle (lying next to it). the part outside, which connects to the odometer is good, it's the part on the inside that is missing teeth. You can click on the pic for a bigger image ![]() here's a view from the underside of the metal body: there is this round thing which probably can be taken out to get the gear out and replace it (to the right of my middle finger), but how can i get that round thing out?? thanks for the help, jan

You might contact odometergears.com and ask them if they have the part. Otherwise, the only places I could suggest contacting would be North Hollywood Speedometer or Palo Alto Speedometer, but both are "across the pond" here in California.
Sorry I couldn't be more help. Scott
