aux air regulator
What is the problems with running with the
auxilliary air regulator unplugged?? I just discovered my aux air reg electrical connection unplugged. I hooked it back in so far I can't tell the difference, What does the aux air reg do, I've got the Haynes book for my car but it is not clear what the function of that part is. |

The aux. air reg. provides a bypass for extra air during warmup that gives you the 'fast idle'. The electrical connection warms a coil inside that slowly closes off the line as time goes by (and the engine warms up). First, do you get a fast idle that slows once warmup has occured? If not, the AAR may be stuck 'closed' and that's why connecting the electrical plug did not make any change. You can remove the outer hose from the AAR when the engine is cold and see if you can use a mirror and light to see back inside the regulator. It should be open when the engine is cold, closed once the engine is warmed up.

Thanks for the information !!
Now that I had an opportunity to run her, I am able to tell a difference. My idle speed drops alot more quickly and she idles a bit more smoothly. |
