No boost - learnt my lesson
Well, I have been taking my time rebuilding the engine from ground up & going EFI. Finally gotten everything together and was able to drive the car. Then, I noticed I have no boost. Zero!
After the usual procedure of suspecting my own wiring, ECU, ... I finally taken my "new from another Pelican" intercooler to the radiator shop for a pressure test. And it is leaking in 6 spots !!! Yes, its been sitting in a box when I bought this supposedly new, never installed intercooler from another Pelican. Yes, I should have pressure tested it the 1st day I got it. But, its supposed to be new (& it did look shinny new). Oh well, guess I have just learnt a lesson to not trust anybody or anything used/private sale/... And a good, new looking intercooler doesn't mean its good :( Sigh... And sorry for wasting the bandwidth but just wanted to rant. |
I would think that even a leaking intercooler would still make some boost. I had a serious air leak (Blown intecooler to pipe seal) and the car still made boost. As it was CIS the mixture was off due to the escaping air.

Its one from GSF - I have received quite a few parts from them and they are all good so I kinda think its not manufacturer defect. Though I didn't pursue that with them due to time constraint - I want and need an intercooler fast so I cant afford the back-&-forth shipping time :( |
