converting to carbs from CIS
 

In B. Andersons' performance handbook he listed several upgrades for the 3.0L engine.
SSIs, carbs, P+C, etc.. Regarding the carb conversion. Is the switch over to carbs from the CIS reversible. What type of effort is involved here regarding disassemply of the CIS and installation of carbs.

There have been many posts on this subject but none I can remember asking about reversibility. Anything can be reversed, but the deeper you get it, such as changing pistons and cams, the harder it becomes to reverse. CIS works as a system, that is cams, pistons, and injection all must be retained for it to work properly. In this case the same applies for the Webers. To achieve the most from the swap a piston and cam change is also needed. A lot of work to reverse. The up side to this story is SSIs. They will help out both systems noticeably.

Rarly is right, of course; one can reverse anything, with lots of hard work. But going back is not any "harder" than going forwards, since you are not really destoying anything. It's all a process of removal and installation and then removal and re-installation.

However, you really ought to speak with a number of people who have done this, for the conversion to carbs really does cause a lot of compromises; i.e., fuel efficiency goes to hell in a handbasket, driveability is greatly reduced, Webers are much more time-consuming to get right than CIS, power is less "linear" than CIS, etc. etc. etc.

Don't forget, the factory went to the CIS for a reason, and emissions was not the sole reason.
