I knew someone was going to get hurt

TeeHee! Just had to share this.
I've got the little porsche parked in my front yard, all shiny & low. No where else to put it yet, so it's in full view of inquiring traffic & inquisitive passers by.
The missus doesn't like me smoking indoors anymore so i am relegated to sit on my front step & watch passing traffic twist necks to get a glimpse of the star attraction.
So i'me sitting puffing yesterday & i see this kid walking down my street with a fixed stare on the porsche. All the way down the street he never took his eyes off it. I could lip read the 'porsche' as he got level with my house.
Then i cracked up when he walked straight into a tree! LOOOL
He wasn't hurt though, just his ego!

Similar things happen but a little different feeling. Oh.. and maybe some questions.

There are several times guys, include mature guys and kids, walk around my car (in my house property), some even touch it. When I walked out, some introduce themself and tell the reason (most of the time is admiring the car). That is ok but some didn't even introduce and just walked away.

There was one time I was doing something with the car and walked inside. When I walked out, I saw this guy was walking around the car as usual. When I asked "whatsup", he just looked at me smile and continued to walk around the car. I stood back lighted my cigarette and enjoyed my coffee with an eye on him. He even sticked his head in the engine bay. This time, I nicely asked him to leave. "Time for me to lock the car and get inside". He said "it's cool. it's cool" and walked out. I saw him walked around the neighborhood several more routes and left.

One of the reason for me to be so ancious because I got broke in several times and once right in front of my house (different car). Lately there are several people keep parking their cars/trucks right in front of my house for days and many times they are in their cars. I notice an old guy. He has a big old cargo van and an old beat up car. Another guy is a mid-age guy with an old working truck and an old beat up car. Most of the time he has many stuff in his working truck such as old refrigerators, lawn mowers, appliances, you name them. I think one of the guy lives in his van and the other guy live somewhere near there. Several times I saw them walk to their cars from somewhere else. What I mean is that they don't lve in the neighborhood.

I called cops and the city to ask about it. They said it's public road, anyone can do anything on the road. Don't get me wrong. I don't live in a rich neighborhood but not in the middle of downtown nor a comercial area. Think about it. If a strangers keep parking their very old and big cars/trucks/vans right in front of your house, directly to your front doors FOR MONTHS. When they comes back for a car, they leave the truck/van there. When they take the truck/van, they leave the car there. It is like their garage is at your front door. How would you feel?
Anyone know what is the law related to this?

I drove into a car park about 2 years ago, and there was this kid who was about 4 years old. Could not take his eyes off my car, came over and started stroking the front lights. His dad came over and apologised, saying that the kid had an exact model of my car, black 930 (mine is an SC with a wide body). I was fine with it and took the kid and his dad for a short drive. Think I made his day, the kid reminded me of myself when I was that age ......... when I used to stare at Porsches. I am sure he'll get one someday.

In regards to parking in front of your house for any lenght of time, someone did that to me on the farside of my place, out of view..most likely hiding from the repo man,
easy ..
1. take of the plates at night and call it in as abandoned
2. donate it to some charity..just let them know ..no key..just take it.

The one "looker" incident that I'll never forget was a couple years ago and I had my 911 parked in the lot at work. A guy with two leg braces and crutches (polio-style, not "regular" crutches), walked up to the car and walked around it very slowly, admiring it from various angles. It then occured to me that this guy would love to own/drive this car, but he can't because of his physical disability and I really choked up at the thought. Here I am, healthy and able to enjoy the car and this guy can't even get in the car, let alone drive it. I'm not a "sensitive" kind of guy, but this brought tears to my eye...

Careful about those "lookers" when my 1994 Speedster was stolen from my garage in Santa Monica the CHP guy told me it was a job that was cased carefully, they probably saw me washing or admiring it outside. Oh and they took my Fat Boy at the same time.

My cousin was at his cottage while his daughter relaxed on the dock in her bikini. The newspapers there are delivered by a kid in an aluminum boat with an outboard motor. You can guess what happens next.

While staring at the bikini the kid drove right into a floating raft.

pulled in to get gas yesterday in my 82 SC. Lady pulls up in a Land Cruiser with 3 young boys, I'd say 10 in the back seat. Necks are stretching. They roll down the window and ask how old the car is. I said, older than you guys, close to 25 years old.

I drove away with a smile on my face.

On my way home from purchasing my SC I stopped for gas at a station that still has attendants (very rural, true WI country). The old guy was walking around asking people if they needed assistance, etc. He stops at my SC, looks for a while, and asks what the tail was for. I explained that it helped to keep the hinder down at speed, etc. and he proceeds to tell me he thought maybe it was some sort of solar collector... That maybe my car was one of those new electric jobbies. All quite serious. I didn't know what to say, so I just kept pumping gas and thanked the gods that even my rural area home was not quite as rural as this...

When i got the car home, probably an hour later, this 6yr old kid cycles up to my gate & says" is that a 911?"
I reply " yes son, it is!"
" What year is it?" master 6 asks.
I reply " it's a 74"
Master 6 then asks, " Dad wants to know where you got it & how much you paid for it?"
I say, " Some questions are not meant to be asked!" " Tell dad i got it from the Porsche shop".
I've got a big, angry dog. Nobody gets in if i dont want them to.
