Great Experience
I wanted to share with all of you a great experience I recently had being a Porsche owner.
While vacationing in the Dominican Republic last week, one afternoon I decided it was time for some liquid refreshments so I walked up to a beach bar wearing a hat bearing the Porsche Crest. After receiving my refreshments I turned around only to see six gentlemen all wearing Ferrari hats and shirts standing next to me. Gesturing and speaking in Italian (which I don't), one of them pointed to my hat and indicated that Porsche was number 2 and then pointing at his own hat and indicating that Ferrari was number 1. As I said, I don't speak Italian but fortunately one of them spoke a little English and somehow we managed to carry on a lengthy conversation. During this conversation, I found that three of them worked for Ferrari and actually knew Michael Schumacher. The remaining three played for the Italian National Soccer Team. Funny thing was that two of them owned Porsche Boxsters (obviously not the three Ferrari employees). Those three owned Ferraris. The next day I ran into them once again, this time one of them handed me a Michael Schumacher signature hat as a gift. I graciously accepted this gift. Again we conversed for awhile and I was then asked to join them later for some refreshments. The following day when I saw them again, I presented them with a bottle of unspecified refreshment as a thank you for the hat. Throughout the week we developed a friendship all due to our fondness for fine automobiles. Now this may all sound as if they were either feeding me some lines or it was all fabricated but on the last day of our vacation, they presented me with what I thought was an incredible gift. This gift was, well let's just say that I will now be able to attend the Indy 500 and watch from the pits with these guys. I was truly amazed that all of this could happen from being a Porsche owner and wearing a Porsche hat. Steve 76 Targa |
