found a loose vacum tube- where does it belong?
Today while changing fuel filter I found a cloth covered vacuum tube. NOT the Blk & Red ones that go to the distributer but similar. It goes.....somewhere on the left side of the engine bay in the rear... but where? Will post photo's tomorrow if needed.
I also discovered a there is a missing nut (!!!) on the valve cover. Just one of those days. By the way, the fuel filter is a beyatch to disassemble. Much easier on other cars I own, BMW & VW. The connectors are way too tight...and the space is limited. The down-side to changing the fuel filter on the M3 is that you have to jack the car up and gas invariably spills on your face... Almost prefer that to the P-car which is usually a joy to work on...

If it is the bigger of the two hoses to the cruise control then one end should be connected to the cruise control and the other end stays open and tucked into the opening of the frame between the two shock towers.

If you're not using the cruise control, then plug the small hose. Otherwise you have a vacuum leak on your intake, which messes up the idle speed.
