Starter Wiring
There are four wires terminating on the starter. Power from the battery. Another big power cable from there (starter) to the engine compartment. Two smaller wires that attach wiht those common flat connectors.
These two small wires will fit on each others' terminals. One is larger gauge than the other. What if I get these two mixed up? Of course, one operates the solenoid. What is the second small wire for? ------------------ '83 SC |

One small lead is the ignition switch 'hot' lead. The other is the 'clutch depressed' interlock switched ground lead.

Gosh, Warren, this is like having you in my garage to help me with my project. Did you get my e-mail in which I hoped you would not loose patience and give up on us backyard mechanics. We (certainly I) appreciate benefitting form your wisdom and knowledge.
Okay, enuf about that. Does it matter whether I plug them onto the right flat connectors on the solenoid? If so, I suppose I could study the electrical diagrams. I can understand those things, but only after looking at them for a time. ------------------ '83 SC |
