Help...930s Steering Wheel install (in progress) question
 

I'm installing a 930s steering wheel in my 87 targa and I noticed (with the old wheel off) that there is a clip on the steering wheel shaft right below the splines. If I leave it on, I notice that the new hub adapter leaves a gap between the hub and the plastic turn signal housing. If I remove the clip , the hub sits much closer to the plastic housing (and looks better). Is that C clip nessecary?

Please help, I have everything apart right now. Sorry, no digi cam for pix.
