early S vin
my buddy in Canada thinks this car may have a special history chassis is 306497S its a '67 I can get more info on it - I know there is a service through Porsche but I heard it takes a long time - any ideas?

What kind of special history do you mean? A racing history? A celebrity owner? You might try asking the folks over on the Early S Registry if anyone knows the car. There are a few Canadians who hang out there. It is not in the latest database that I have--the closest recorded VINs are 306486S and 306570S in the Registry records.
