Question Black trim to Silver (Chrome look) ? Parts numbers?

I am wanting to switch the multi shaded, faded, scratched black trim on my 1978 SC to Silver Chrome look.

Does anyone have the parts numbers for the fixed Chrome rear windows?

Parts numbers for Chrome door handles?

Thanks!

Andrew

there have also been a few people who have just sanded off the black paint and coated and polished the metal and it looks pretty great. i'll try and find the old thread and get a link to it to you. i'm sure that it is a decent amount of work to get it to look really good but it would definately be cheaper.

Andrew -

I would trade you even for my chrome handles as I have converted all but them to black on my track car. I assume you have the keys for them? Not sure how the lock assembly comes out. I don't need keys as mine is a track only car, but I believe I have mine. I'm down below you in mid-western CT..

Also - You may want to contact Dan Jacobs LLC (Hairy Dog Garage) in Oxford, CT to see if he still has all my original chrome parts... or a line on more.

Gary,

The lock tumblers are easy to remove when the handles are off of the car.

Andrew,

I had heard that part 26 in the picture above is NLA. You might want to source that before you pull the trigger on the other pieces. I saw someone else do the same thing you are doing take 3 months to get that one piece. It was expensive...

Cool look to add to your car though!

Thumbs up Thanks to all!

Thanks for the partsnumbers. Those numbers are for the silver anodized or Chrome trim pieces?

GaryR.

I just went out to look at my door handles they are in Ok shape. A little faded and some scratches. One of the keyholes has the stainless a little bend. I assume these come out with the tumblers. My original post was to start planning this as a winter project to keep me busy. I want to research availbality of all the parts before I jump in.

I just ordered two bottles of the powder that anodizers use to strip old anodizing off before re-anodizing. I will let you know how that stuff works. My thought is to just strip off the old stuff and polish/wax/vasoline (or whatever is going to keep it from corroding) I think the matte silver (kind of RS finish) would look pretty good on my petrol blue car.

They also sell a bunch of Wenol products for polishing aluminum.

Your call, but come November I will be sandblasting the chrome off these OEM handles and priming/painting them black. Seems kind of a waste for you to go to so much trouble for a questionable result to me?
