SC Mirror upgrade? Will this work?

I have the factory Flag Mirror on my SC. (just drivers side)

I have not been able to find a replacement mirror where the base is large enough to cover the exsisting holes from the flag mirror. My thought was to use the exsisting flag mirror base and top it with this mirror. Anyone have this set up on their car?

Thanks

Can't imagine how you'd make it work. The bottom-most part of the flag-mirror mount is relatively flat and horizontal, and that mirror wants a curved base that slopes upward.

Besides, I would think a vintage mirror like that, intended for '50s Lotuses and the like, would look sort of goofy on an '80s car--like wire wheels on a 911...

Damn I will have to call Dayton Wire and cancel my order!

Thanks Steve. BTW Loved your book! Great read.

Im trying to find a more 70's period racer mirror to replace the flag on my SC. I like the Talbot's and would consider a fender mount mirror too.

Why not a mirror from a 74 or earlier 911? They are not the "Flag" mirror and they have a 70's period look to them.

Will the a 1974-75 Chrome rectangle mirror?

Base cover the holes left from removing the flag mirror?

Thanks

Andrew
