Can anyone tell me what car this is from?

Would this seat fit an SC or a Carrera?

Thanks in advance,

Paul.

Paul,

That looks to be out of a Carrera-era car, so it should fit either an SC or a Carerra. If I recall correctly, the last couple of years of Carrera production they changed the inner seat belt mounts, so it may be a problem fitting an early seat into a late chassis but it should be fine the other way.

Thanks JR!

I emailed the seller to find out what it came otu of- they had no idea on year, but it looks like a 911 seat to me. I also asked if it has the switches on the side- doubt it but you never know!

Cheers,

Paul.

With the front slider bar showing I really doubt there will be any power switches on the side.

I vote pre-1986. Post-1986 usually have the seat recline-forward lever on both sides near the shoulder area.

Thanks Guys-

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but an SC seat will fit a Carrera, vice versa, (some minor mods?) and the drivers side is interchangeable with the passengers, right?

Cheers,

Paul.

A note on the slider.

I have Carrera sport seats in my updated '78 SC. They have manual controls for front and back movement and backrest tilt. They also have electric front and back adjustment control as well as full seat tilt control.

This seat may have two sets of control vice the four sets of control you find in most 911 electric seats.

I would ask the seller if it has electric controls (and if it does, do they work?).

It looks like a nice passenger seat to me.

That seat looks exactly like the passenger seat in my 81 SC.

Paul,

What year car are you wanting to put the seat in?

The difference in a left and right seats has to do with the levers and knobs. The fore/aft adjustment lever on the earlier seats is on the outer side, as is the recline knob. Depending on the year, there may be one or two backrest release knobs. In the years that had only one, it will be on the outside of the seat (left on the driver's side.) If you don't care where these controls are located, you can use the seat on either side of the car.

I originally thought it was an early, standard Carrera seat, probably out of an '84. The standard SC seats had horizontal pleats on the very top and the Carrera didn't. In 1985, the seat controls changed and a second knob was added to release the seat back. Having looked at it again, I'm starting to wonder if it is out of a 944. The pleats in the upper half of the backrest of the seat don't match those of an '85 and later Carrera. Anybody have a stock '84 Carrera, or a similar vintage 944?

Here are the 4 way power seats I just pulled out of my 88. The seat has two lever on the lower front. One for the seat back adjustment and one for fore / aft adjustment.

Thanks for the replies, you guys are great! I don't own a 911 yet- but when I do, chances are the drivers seat will be in need of help. So when I saw this for sale, I thought it might be a good idea to pick it up. I emailed the seller (who has no idea what year car it is from) and asked which model it is from. It looks like there is a release lever on the left side, about half way up, but I can't really tell from the picture. I also asked the seller if there are any switches on the seat. All I know for sure is that it's the passenger side- and I have read somewhere that the drivers and passengers sides are interchangeable in some cars- or at least the seat backs are. I hope to get more info from the seller tomorrow- will post the answers...

Cheers,

Paul.

Here's the deal. Seat is in Illinois. I am in Oregon. Seller hasn't emailed me with a shipping quote so I am going to pass. Ebay number 330022624358. Hopefully someone from that neck of the woods can use it!
