what's a fair price
What should I be prepared to pay for the removal and later installation of a motor (911SC) that is being shipped to the west coast for rebuilding?

Are they going to crate it and ship it for you or just hand it to you after they take it out?
60.00 per hour plus cost of shipping materials,( palate and protective covering?)and of course the cost of shipping, probably UPS ground. |

Depends on the shop, some are rip offs, a shop that does VWs along with 911s will be less than the Porsche only types their you should pay about $300-350 for removal and installation

Both of the above are right. I think the book price of an R and R for the SC engine is 4-6 hours. Since a good indie shop will charge you ~$60/hr, that puts you at about $300. I would stay away from dealers, but that's just me.
