SC Ignition Timing
C'mon friends, someone must know how to do this.
Idle Speed: There is a big screw with a spring behind it clearly visible on the Throttle Body that can be turned easily using fingers. Toward the back of the Throttle Body. Is this the Idle Speed Adjusting Screw? Turning it changes idle speed very slowly. Ignition Timing: My Vacuum Advance Unit has two vacuum hoses. Haynes says my "hose" (singular) should be disconnected. Earlier SCs says they both shoudl be disconnected. Should both be disconnected to set timing on an '83 MOST IMPORTANT: When the top (black) vacuum hose is disconnected, ignition timing advances and so does idle speed. Should I bring down the idle speed temporarily to set timing at 950 RPM, with the vacuum hoses disconnected, then adjust idle back up to 950 RPM when the hoses are reconnected (which will retard ignition again and lower the idle to below the 950 spec)? Someone must know this. All or part. ------------------ '83 SC |
